In a recent announcement, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has informed its customers of upcoming changes to its mobile app services. Starting February 13, 2025, the "Load E-Wallet" feature for GCash and Maya will no longer be available on the BPI app.

BPI clarified that users who need to load their GCash and Maya wallets still have options. The primary alternative is to use the "Transfer to other banks" feature on the BPI app via Instapay. To do this, users must select "G-Xchange/GCash" for GCash transfers and "Maya Philippines Inc/Maya Wallet" for Maya transfers from the list of banks. The recipient's name as registered on GCash or Maya should be used as the account name, and their mobile number should be used as the account number.
However, these transfers come with a fee. BPI noted that
a fee of P25 is charged for bank transfers.
For GCash users, there's another option to avoid this fee. They
can still "Cash In" with BPI directly on the GCash app, which only
incurs a "convenience fee" of P5. BPI also reminds users that
they can directly use the cash-in features within the GCash or Maya apps.
BPI app users can also use it to pay for purchases using the
scan-to-pay feature which uses the QR Ph standard.
On a related note, GCash has announced that it underwent
system maintenance on Wednesday, February 12, between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m..
GCash advised its users to plan their transactions accordingly to avoid any
inconvenience.
